The St. John's Shambhala
Meditation Group
The St. John's Shambhala Meditation Group is part of Shambhala, a global community of urban meditation and rural retreat centers founded by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and
further developed by his son and lineage holder Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.
Our group meets at the Billy Rahal Clubhouse, where we offer a variety of programs, including meditation instruction for beginners, regular sitting meditation on Wednesdays and Sundays, periodic teachings and training workshops, and in depth Buddhist and Shambhala programs, including the Heart of Warriorship levels I - V and The Sacred Path.
Meditation: Our Core Practice
The practice of meditation is the heart of all programs offered by the St. John's Shambhala Meditation Group. Meditation is a way of slowing down and getting to know yourself, a way of making friends with your life and developing strength of mind, and a way of synchronizing body and mind in the present moment. It is a way of becoming fully present and appreciating your world.
Finding Your Path
The St. John's Shambhala Meditation Group warmly invites you to practice meditation with us at our regular public sittings on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. If you would like to learn how to begin to meditate, qualified instructors are available at our Wednesday sittings. Please check our calendar for information on additional classes and programs offered regularly. We invite you to explore our diverse programs designed to help people of all spiritual traditions discover their inherent sanity, gentleness and humor.
